Mountain Biking at PVSP!
It’s no secret that the trail system at Patapsco Valley State Park is a destination for mountain bikers from near and far – and these cyclists help comprise one of the largest trail stewardship communities in the country. Each year individual cyclists, bike shops, outdoor retailers, and bicycle manufacturers donate thousands of hours and substantial resources ($) to build and maintain our trail system and our trail community. FPVSP is happy to present, with our partner organizations, cycling, and stewardship events at Patapsco Valley State Park.

(Did you know that as a requirement for any trail event at the park, our partner organizations are required to donate .5 hours of trail maintenance for every participant?)

FPVSP is proud to work with Mini Pedals to encourage, challenge, and educate children to be comfortable and confident on their mountain bikes. Friendships are forged on the trail, challenges are overcome on the trail, and confidence is built on the trail. Check out the incredible Muddy/Mini Pedals here!
Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League

We couldn’t be prouder of our partnership with MICL! Student-athletes are a big part of the PVSP trail community and it’s absolutely humbling to be a small part of the positive impact that MICL has had in the Patapsco Valley. In 2021, in partnership with MICL, we constructed the Schools Out Event Loop in the PIckall Area, and we are thrilled to have the MICL/NICA finals returning to the park this fall!
NICA’s Five Core Principles:
- Fun: Inspiring friendship, joy, and adventure.
- Inclusivity: Everyone should be able to participate in our programs and feel welcomed, respected and supported.
- Equity: Means being committed to fair treatment, equal access, opportunity, advancement and elimination of barriers to encourage participation for all.
- Respect: Consideration for all others, oneself, and the outdoors.
- Community: NICA unites diverse people, families and communities through cycling by creating fun and welcoming experiences.
