Running at PVSP

It’s well known that the trail system at Patapsco Valley State Park is a major destination for runners from near and far. These runners, along with running groups and park events, contribute to one of the largest trail stewardship communities in the country. While FPVSP isn’t a running organization, the running community plays a significant role in supporting the park. Each year, runners, run shops, outdoor retailers, and manufacturers contribute thousands of volunteer hours and substantial resources to build and maintain our multi-use trail system, helping grow our diverse trail community.

Pints for Patapsco

The Guinness Open Gate Brewery and the Friends of Patapsco Valley State Park are teaming up to bring this exciting run into the heart of PVSP—followed by a celebration at the incredible Open Gate Brewery.

In 2025, runners experienced two of the park’s most iconic landmarks: the Thomas Viaduct and the Swinging Bridge. We’ll be back in 2026 with even more miles, more smiles, and a brand-new date coming soon!

The Patapsco 50k – 10/25/25

We couldn’t be prouder of our long partnership with White Oak Running Company. Their signature event, The Patapsco 50k, draws runners from near and far for a true test of endurance and grit on PVSP’s technical trail system. This event is in its 12th year and is one of the premier trail runs in the Mid-Atlantic!

(Did you know that as a requirement for any trail event at the park, our partner organizations are required to donate .5 hours of trail maintenance for every participant?)
